Top 5 Tools For Finding Your Next Tech Job

Like so many others this year, I am getting the 2023 tech layoff experience. With all the competition, it can be overwhelming to figure out how to proceed. After receiving automated rejection emails from companies, I decided it was time to fight tech with tech. Here are my recommended top 5 tools for finding your next tech job.

  1. Wonsulting resume template – https://www.wonsulting.com/resources/wonsulting-resume-template
I recommend that you start your job search with a clean template like the one by Wonsulting. I have gotten stellar reviews on my resume from an engineering manager and a career services coach.

  2. ResumeWorded for resume review, targeted resume, and LinkedIn feedback – https://resumeworded.com
I cannot say enough about how amazing this tool is! There are plenty of free resources available on their site, but I paid for the full experience. The feedback is detailed, and it felt like having a resume writer holding my hand but at a fraction of the cost. For targeted resumes, it pulls keywords from job descriptions and grades my resume as I edit it. I cannot live without this feature. The LinkedIn feedback pointed out that I had gaps that I could fill in and with what information. You won’t regret using this website.

  3. Simplify extension for auto filling basic job applications – https://simplify.jobs
Simplify will fill out the annoying repetitive questions that every job application asks. Keep in mind that Simplify doesn’t work with every job application, and you will still have to fill out essay questions. I’d still say it’s worth setting up.

  4. ChatGPT for Cover Letters – https://www.tealhq.com/post/ai-chatgpt-for-job-applications
This article covers how to prompt ChatGPT to write your cover letters for you based on your resume and the job description. It has saved me so much time on applications, and I am happy with the results.

  5. Wonsulting NeworkAI for reaching out to hiring managers – https://app.wonsulting.ai/networking-tool
Want to know how to get your application noticed in a stack of hundreds? Use LinkedIn to find the potential hiring manager, then send them a connection request with a message. Use NetworkAI to help you craft a message and send it off! I have gotten some positive feedback from following this method.

I hope that these tips lead you to greater success in your job search. There is too much tech talent looking right now for us to not help each other out.
